TYPES OF GST FILING:

GSTR-1 (Outward Supplies): GSTR-1 is a monthly or quarterly return that captures details of all outward supplies made by the taxpayer. It includes information about sales, supplies to unregistered persons, exports, and more.

GSTR-2 (Inward Supplies): GSTR-2 is a monthly or quarterly return that captures details of all inward supplies or purchases made by the taxpayer. It includes information about purchases from registered suppliers.

GSTR-2A (Auto-generated Return): GSTR-2A is an auto-generated return that's populated with details of inward supplies as reported by the supplier in their GSTR-1. Taxpayers use this as a reference for reconciling their purchases.

GSTR-2B: GSTR-2B is a static return that provides details of inward supplies, which is auto-populated and updated on a monthly basis.

GSTR-3B (Summary Return): GSTR-3B is a monthly summary return that provides a high-level summary of tax liability and input tax credit for a given tax period. It's a simplified return used for initial tax payments and is required to be filed even before the detailed GSTR-1 and GSTR-2 returns are filed.

GSTR-4 (Composition Scheme Return): GSTR-4 is a quarterly return for taxpayers registered under the Composition Scheme. This return includes details of their total turnover and tax payable.

GSTR-5 (Non-resident Taxable Person's Return): GSTR-5 is a return filed by non-resident taxable persons who are temporarily conducting business in India.

GSTR-6 (Input Service Distributor's Return): GSTR-6 is a monthly return for Input Service Distributors (ISD) to distribute the Input Tax Credit to their recipient units.

GSTR-7: GSTR-7 is a return to be filed by taxpayers who are required to deduct TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) under GST.

GSTR-8 (E-commerce Operator's Return): GSTR-8 is a monthly return filed by e-commerce operators to report the tax collected at source (TCS) on supplies made through their platform.

GSTR-9: GSTR-9 is an annual return that provides a summary of the taxpayer's financial transactions for the entire financial year.

GSTR-9A (Annual Return for Composition Taxpayers): GSTR-9A is an annual return specifically for businesses registered under the Composition Scheme. It allows composition taxpayers to provide a consolidated summary of their annual transactions. While GSTR-4 is a quarterly return for Composition Scheme taxpayers, GSTR-9A is filed once a year to provide an annual overview.

GSTR-9C (GST Reconciliation Statement and Certification): GSTR-9C is a reconciliation statement that is filed along with the annual return GSTR-9. It is required for taxpayers whose aggregate turnover exceeds a certain threshold (as specified by the authorities). GSTR-9C is essentially a reconciliation of the financial statements of a business with the GST returns filed during the financial year. It must be certified by a Chartered Accountant or a Cost Accountant.
