Every Food Business Operator (FBO) in India must obtain the appropriate FSSAI Registration or License<\/strong> based on their turnover and type of food business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 1 April 2026<\/strong>, FSSAI has revised the turnover limits as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Above \u20b950 Crore<\/strong><\/td>FSSAI Central License<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The earlier \u20b912 lakh threshold for Basic Registration has been increased to \u20b91.5 crore<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FSSAI Government Fees<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The applicable government fee depends on the category and type of food business:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Basic FSSAI Registration:<\/strong>\u00a0\u20b9100 per year<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • State License:<\/strong>\u00a0\u20b92,000 or \u20b95,000 per year, depending on the type of business<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Central License:<\/strong>\u00a0\u20b97,500 per year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    When is the State License Fee \u20b92,000?<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A \u20b92,000 annual fee<\/strong> applies to certain State License categories, including specified food businesses such as eligible food retailers, restaurants, caterers and other activities<\/strong>, as prescribed under the FSSAI fee schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    When is the State License Fee \u20b95,000?<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A \u20b95,000 annual fee<\/strong> applies to certain State License categories, particularly specified food manufacturing\/processing units and other applicable businesses<\/strong>, depending on the nature and scale of the activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Therefore, the State License fee should be checked based on the exact Kind of Business (KoB)<\/strong> selected in FoSCoS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Important Note<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Turnover alone does not always determine whether a business needs Registration, State License or Central License. Certain businesses, such as food importers and other specified categories<\/strong>, may require a Central License irrespective of turnover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
